Did you hear that whooshing sound? Yeah. That was July.
Seriously, I have no idea where this summer, or year for that matter, has gone! Since it’s the end of July, I thought I’d round up some of my favorite things ranging from beauty, fashion, and planning.
For the month of July, I made it a goal of mine to simplify my skin care routine. I wanted just a few products that I religiously use and then I can always sprinkle in a few different ones every now and then. But in looking for a core routine, I came across some gems.
Freeman brand face masks have always been a favorite of mine and I came across two new ones I’d never seen before.
The Cucumber and Pink Salt Clay Mask, was especially exciting! It’s a clay mask that you leave on for about 7-10 minutes, but it has little exfoliators in it! The real magic is when you go to rinse this mask. You’re supposed to wet your hands and gently rub the mask into your skin, it feels amazing. And after rinsing, your skin will be so smooth! This, for me, is a staple and I’ll keep repurchasing this one for sure! It does make my skin feel itchy while it’s drying so I tend to leave it on until I can’t ignore the itchy feeling any longer, usually around the five minute mark for me.
The Green Tea & Orange Blossom Peel-Off mask is also one of my top masks. It has a wonderful cooling effect, and let’s be real, any peel-off mask is just plain fun! I was intrigued by this mask because it claims to improve dark spots and I have some acne scaring that I’m trying to fade. I haven’t used this mask enough to notice any dramatic changes, but it’s only been a month and it’s not something I use every day. It does leave your skin feeling refreshed, hydrated and clean.
And I’m pretty sure I found my holy grail moisturizer as well. I’ve never tried anything from the Pacifica brand and I’ll admit, the fact that it has kale in it sucked me in. I LOVE THIS. It’s a light weight moisturizer that I’ve been using day and night, and my make-up goes on smoother, and my skin just feels better. One thing I do want to mention is it really does smell like kale. When you first rub this in it literally smells like your rubbing kale and greens on your face. Weird at first, but it doesn’t linger longer than a few minutes after absorbing into the skin. The tube may seem small, but a little goes along way, so it does last awhile. I use a pea size in the morning and two pea sizes at night. I’ll for sure be buying another tube of this, it’s been the best moisturizer that I’ve tried so far!
With the return of summer’s hot weather, I was looking to change my foundation back to minerals. I had used Bare Minerals years ago and really wasn’t a fan. But I’ll admit I wasn’t really applying it correctly, so no wonder I didn’t like it. I watched several YouTube videos on how to get the best coverage out of this makeup and all said blending was key. So BLEND BLEND BLEND I did! It works. Seriously. I blend until my arm is sore, it’s like a mini workout every morning. I’ve actually gotten complements on how good my skin looks while wearing this foundation. Like that NEVER happens to me. So for that alone, this is definitely a keeper. And it’s been perfect in the summer and was the light-weight foundation I was looking for.
Let’s face it, this palm print is HUGE right now and I saw this bag at Target and had to have it. It’s the perfect sized tote bag that I’ve been using for work. I’ve been able to carry my planner, computer or tablet, and any extra little things I need for the day all in this bag. It’s cute, stylish, and I’ve been enjoying having a nice bag to carry to work. This bag also on the inside has a small zipper pocket, much like many purses do. It’s a decent size pocket as well so you can fit smaller items in here so they don’t fall to the bottom of the bag. And it just makes me feel so much more stylish than I actually am!
If you’ve seen my Instagram, you’ll know I’m obsessed with these stencils. You get the perfect checklist EVERY SINGLE TIME. It’s the greatest planning tool and if you’re the type of planner that enjoys list making, it’s perfect. It comes with a box and circle stencil checklist and while sized to fit the Classic Happy Planner, you could totally get this to work in the Big Happy Planner as well! The fact that they are already punched is also a bonus, you can pop one in your planner for easy checklist making on the go.
These are the top four sticker books I found myself grabbing while planning this month. All are from the Happy Planner line. And with the student packs, you don’t need to be a student to use them. There are some student specific stickers, but there aren’t many at all. There are a ton of cute stickers in these packs that can be used for both decorative and functional planning. I love a mix of both! I tend to be more functional in my planning as of late, and these have been perfect to add little pops of color and inspiration throughout my planner layouts.
MY ONE PLANNER SET UP
My last favorite of July is my one planner set up! Yes, you read that right, ONE PLANNER! Before July I was kind of switching between three different ones. The problem was, for me at least, is that was way to many. It took too much time to update all of them and I was duplicating information in all of my planners, as I like to have everything in one place. So I completely took apart my planner and customized it to fit how I plan and there is a place and section for EVERYTHING. If you’re interested in taking a look inside my planner set up, I have a blog post and a video flip-through on my YouTube Channel. I finally feel like I’ve taken a step closer to planner peace and am looking forward to planning August in one planner.
Well I think that pretty much rounds out everything I’ve been enjoying a ton in the month of July. Here’s to finding new favorites in the month of August.
Catch y’all later!
