Trying Holiday Treats

The idea for this post came while walking through the grocery store one afternoon when I spotted Peppermint Cheese. I LOVE peppermint and I LOVE cheese. So I need to try it, right? Right.

This cheese had me thinking, if I try it, I need to blog about it, because I’ve never seen peppermint cheese before. So while shopping throughout December, I decided to pick up some other holiday-themed treats that I’d never tried before.

Peppermint Cheese

Well Folks. This one was indeed interesting. I love any and all things peppermint. Seriously. It’s one of my favorite things. And it turns out, there is something peppermint that exists that I’m not a big fan of. The taste of peppermint and cheese are just two things I didn’t really like all that much. It did come with a recipe for peppermint cheesecake and I’m curious to see if it tastes better as a cheesecake than straight up cutting yourself a slice of cheese for snack.

Oreo Flavored Candy Canes

Candy canes for me are the food of the Christmas holiday and I can’t really go a holiday season without eating them. So why not try a fun new flavor? I like Oreos. This one is actually super good! It does taste like an Oreo cookie, but it also reminds me of a tootsie roll too! So, if you like tootsie rolls, then you’re going to love this candy cane. They taste great on their own, but they also add a very yummy hint of chocolate to your coffee.

Holiday Coffee Flavors

You can’t go wrong with flavored coffees during the holidays. I was looking for some fun new flavors to spice up my morning coffees and came across the Schuil Coffee brand. I ended up with the holiday flavor called Nutcracker Sweet. And guess what? It tastes just like a Christmas cookie in a cup. It’s perfect. Just the right amount of sweetness and it’s also a coffee that I didn’t have to add anything in to drink it. I’m usually not one for the bitterness of coffee and pretty much must always add milk, but the sweetness of this coffee was just enough that I could drink it on it’s own. This is literally Christmas morning in a cup. Top it with some Ready Whip and it’s a wonderful sweet treat in a mug!

Pigs n’ Taters Chocolate Bar

This one hands down was the most bizarre holiday treat I found. Thank you, holiday aisles at Target for the shear entertainment of finding a milk chocolate bar with bacon bits and potato chips. The second I saw this, I knew this would be the perfect way to round out this holiday food taste test post. It’s either going to be good or it’s going to be horrible, but either way it’s one for record books as one of the weirdest holiday food. Well, at least that I’ve seen anyway.

Hot dang. This one started out with promise! When I first ate it, I thought well, it’s just a milk chocolate bar. But after awhile I could totally taste the bacon and then BAM here comes the taste of potato chips. This might take the prize for one of the weirdest things I’ve ever eaten. It’s not horrible, but it’s not exactly something I find myself trying again.
